The first season of a theater of music

We’re finally here. For years, The Cité Bleue has been closed for renovation. I’ve seen its bare walls, walked through the dust of its demolished walls, looked up at its roofless octagon to see the blue sky. I’ve dreamed of artists rehearsing their instruments in rooms outlined on paper, imagined the footsteps of the audience in a foyer cluttered with construction materials, listened to the roar of jackhammers in the empty room.

This renovation of La Cité Bleue, tailor-made to accommodate my artistic project, has a profound and personal significance. I arrived in Geneva when I was young and this city became my home, my second home. Participating in the renaissance of this iconic space is a way of paying tribute to the city that inspired and offered me so many opportunities.

This inaugural season is much more than a series of events. It’s a new being about to be born and take its first steps. This place opens like a blue flower to investigate the human, to become a place where creativity can flourish, where artists can feel at home, where all audiences can be touched.

From early music to contemporary creations, through pop culture, all the most unexpected forms will be explored: from musical theater to opera and musical comedy, educational projects, creations combining music and dance, music and circus arts, chamber music with dozens of Swiss and international artists for all-night marathons until dawn.

The Cité Bleue is an artistic adventure in perpetual evolution. We are excited to write this new chapter in its history, where innovation and passion for art will merge to create an unforgettable experience for all who enter its doors. Thank you for being part of this adventure with us as we together write a new page in Geneva’s culture.
